On my walks around Mt Eden I have a habit of picking up Pohutukawa leaves due to their shape or colour. They are an endless source of inspiration with their shape and colour. For my pendant leaves I handcraft them in wax. The leaves are then textured both sides to mimic the blemishes a native insect, a leaf miner weevil causes and gives the Pohutukawa leaves their character. The waxes are then cast into Bronze. A patina was added to provide a variation to the surface of the Bronze to softly highlight greens, reds and brown.
The leaves are also available in Sterling Silver and also available set with gemstones.
