    Custom Work

One of the great things about being a jeweller is the opportunity to do custom unique pieces. One of the techniques I like using is the Lost Wax Process. For the pictured ring I worked with the client to come up with a distinctive design that suited their hand shape and sense of style. or the client part of the purpose was to incorporate old and broken pieces of jewellery that originated from various family members over the years. The result is stunning. The image was taken just after the ring had been cast and before I started work to clean and polish. I really love the look at this…

    Simple Metal Texturing

One of my favourite things to work on is experimenting with texture on the metal and how this changes the outward appearance of the metal. Take lace, dried organic material, or pieces of broken metal tools and roll the metal over these to create unique surfaces. But these did not quite provide me with the random landscape I was after so I was looking around for a way to create a surface that had depth, totally random and had a raw organic appeal. Therefore when I found a great flat piece of Mt Eden Basalt that had started life as one of the curbstones outside my home I began to…

Deceptively simple – the process of building the ‘Wrapped’ Collection

Over the summer holidays I have been working on a new group of work around layers – these can include texture and gold leaf. Much of the time I have been experimenting with textures created from interacting with natural objects around my home. The different rock produces an organic texture along with the type of hammer I use. The “Wrapped” collection is being built around this beautiful texture, wrapping this into a cylinder or around other pieces and then layering these in…

    Customised Rings

Rings are one of the most emotional pieces of jewellery we wear. For many, we wear our earrings, bangles and pendants to adorn our outfits and for others to see, but rings we wear for our ourselves to enjoy. These beautiful Wedding Band leaf rings have been handmade in wax and then cast in silver or 9ct yellow, rose or white gold. All rings are made to order (approx 4 weeks). Get in touch for ring sizing advice or visit the studio to try on samples of all the ring designs.

    Celebrating Silver

Silver is a beautiful medium to work with. It can work in a supporting role to show off applied surface texture such as the detail created by roller printing silk lace onto the surface. Silver is just as capable of taking the lead when you want it to act precious or be centre stage. These beautiful organic cylinder pendants look stunning around the neck in multiple or single strands and when not worn can be hung on the walls of your home – a perfect testament to the adornment of both body and wall.
